Ipsy: December 2013

This is my second month of receiving an Ipsy bag. I am going to do a quick review on the items I received this month.

I think the bag for this month is quite cute. I like that it's just black with an imprinted pattern.

Be a Bombshell, The One Stick in Girl Crush
$16
I received the color Girl Crush. It is a pale pink with a gold-ish shimmer. I have very fair skin and it doesn't show up very well. It looked alright over lipsticks, as a highlight or over eyeshadow, but I would have liked it to be more pigmented. It also had a lot of shimmer in it. Personally, I do not like a lot of shimmer, so I passed this item on to my sister. Application is alright & it feels smooth while applying, but it's hard to blend out--mostly it's the glitter that is hard to blend. Overall, I wasn't a fan. I wouldn't purchase it for $16, but I do think the other colors without glitter that were pigmented could be nice.
2/10

J.Cat Beauty, The Big Lip Pencil in Caramel Mocha
$3.99
I like the shape & it was easy to apply. I do hate all chubby pencils I have to sharpen, since you lose some product and I wish it was in a twist up. The product is creamy with a light scent & it wears pretty well if you don't eat (4ish hours). At first I wasn't thrilled with the color the way it looked in the pencil, but it actually looks quite nice when applied. It is also not very drying which is nice for the winter. Overall, I like this product. It is worth the price and I would buy it in more colors.
7/10

Andrea Mod Strip Lash - 33
$3.99
I am a big fan of lashes so I was excited to see these. They look nice & the band is pretty flexible so application is easy and they are comfortable to wear. They add a bit of drama and volume without being over the top.
8.5/10

Pop Beauty, Brighten Up Your Life Eye Shadow Trio in Naturally Bare
(I am unsure of the price, since I cannot find the trio online.)
I am pretty impressed with the color payoff. I haven't tried Pop Beauty before, so I wasn't expecting much with the shadows, but over my Lorac Primer they last well, with minimal fading. For a low end eyeshadow these work very well.
7/10

Nicka K New York Nail Color in Classic Taupe $4.99

I really like the color. I like wearing gray colors, and I have a few, but this is a darker gray than I own. It dries quickly enough and wears for two-ish days with no chipping. It was easy to apply smooth coats & only took two coats to get it opaque.

Tutorial: Purple Eyes + Face Makeup

I have moved my blog! It is now located at www.rebeccashoresmua.com/ check my Index of Post to see my posts that are on this website and follow me on Bloglovin so you can see my new posts!

This is a pretty easy look for eyes & I added how I finished my face makeup, as well. Hope you like it! If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below. Also, please let me know if you like the dots!

Prime your eyes. I already have my foundation on and I've done my eyebrows, but I haven't powdered or concealed since I will get fallout from some of the pigments I am using later.

Use a cream shadow on the lid so the loose pigments will stick better. I am using NARS Soft Touch Pencil in Goddess.

Tip! If you want less fallout on your face, you can hold a tissue under your eye while you apply loose pigments.

Using a MAC 242, I apply Shiro Mother of Dragons all over my lid and into the crease.

Then, using a Sigma E65 I apply Mac Blanc Type. You can use any color that is close to your skintone in a matte.

Next, I apply MAC Wedge using a Sigma E40 from my crease to half way up my brow.

Using a Sigma E45 I apply Urban Decay Rockstar in the outer V, taking up about a quarter of the lid.

Using a Sigma E30 I apply Stila Dahlia in the outer V, but more defined than with Rockstar.

Blend the edged.

Using Simga E30 I put Shiro Mother of Dragons under the lower lash line.
I also applied corrector and concealer at this point.

Tight line with a black pencil and line your water line with a nude.

You can add some winged liner if you'd like. This look is also pretty without liner, but I am going to be wearing false lashes so I'll add liner.

Curl your lashes and add some mascara.

Finishing the Face

Powder your face. I use RCMA No Color and Ben Nye Cameo. I use a sponge and press and roll the powder on to my skin to set my base.

Here, I am using Hourglass Ambient Light Powder in Diffused to brighten the center of my face. I use a Sigma F35.

I am using an Sigma F50, making small circles to apply and blend Benefit Rockateur blush.

This is where I apply blush.

A quick contour with MAC Sculpt and A Simga F05.

As you can see here, even just a little bit of contouring makes a big difference.

Using MAC Emphasize and a Sigmga F35, I am highlighting my cheek bones, inner corner of my eyes, brow bone and cupids bow.

Wipe off any foundation or lip gloss you may have left on your lips. I had Smith's Rosebud Salve on my lips while I was applying makeup, but I don't really want to apply my lipstick over it so I always remove it before going on.

Here, I've using MAC Prep and Prime and then Applied MAC Brave.

I added a bit of a Stila gloss and just dabbed it in the center of my lips.

And that's the finished look! In these following pictures I also added Oh my Lash! The Knockout Lashes.

Tutorial: Orange Earthy Eyes

I have moved my blog! It is now located at www.rebeccashoresmua.com/ check my Index of Post to see my posts that are on this website and follow me on Bloglovin so you can see my new posts!

I am back to blogging every Friday. I got really sick over the past month which took a toll on my blog and youtube. I am getting a new batteries for my mic so as of right now I don't have any new videos coming, unfortunately. The mic on my camera is not the best quality and it makes it hard to hear what I am saying and you can hear the auto focus, so I will be waiting until I have my external mic up and running before making new videos so no quality will be lost.

I posted this look on a social media site and got asked for a tutorial so here it is.

Start out with priming your eye and sweeping a shadow that is close to your skin color from the crease to the brow. I am using Lorac primer and MAC blanc type for this step.

Using The Balm - Matt Rosen put it in and just about your crease and blend.

Using The Balm - Matt Garcia on place it in the outer half of the crease.

Blend.

Blend.

Use MAC Embark to add more  definition and place in in the outer third of the crease.

Blend.

Place Pixi Epoxy all over the lid, you can use any sticky base.

Pat Shiro - Girl on Fire all over the pixi epoxy.

At this point you can also add a copper glitter on top of girl on fire.

Make sure to cover the whole lid with the pigment.

Here I've finished concealing after wiping away all the fall out. I do my concealing after I apply loose pigments.

Run MAC Rule halfway under the lash line.

Add a bit of The Balm Matt Garcia.

Blend.

Add winged liner.

I set my liner with MAC Carbon.

Line your waterline with a nude liner and tightline using black.

Curl your lashes and add mascara.
